Reflections Four Years in

Primary

Endeavour Wealth Management is now four years old. This time of year has become a time of reflection for me and celebration for our team of Endeavourites. It’s a reminder of how far we have come but also where we came from and the purpose behind us which fills our sails. Four years ago, we believed that people deserved better from the financial services industry. You see, we take our responsibility very seriously, the responsibility of helping our clients, the people we serve, to live the life they dream of. There are very few professions which can have the magnitude of impact which we can and make a difference in people’s lives and the people they love. We believed the people deserved better then, and we believe it today. Thinking back to the early days, before we launched, we planned for multiple scenarios for what we thought could have happened given history. We wanted to be sure that if for example, we went through a financial crisis like event that we would know exactly what to do and not get caught reacting poorly, but rather, responding appropriately to weather the storm and succeed for our clients. Well, another financial crisis didn’t happen, but we all know what we have experienced over the last 4 years.

The global pandemic has been so incredibly challenging for so many people, but as we have begun to emerge from it over the last year, we have had another realization. The tail of the pandemic will be long and in some ways it will be even more difficult than the pandemic itself. Take 2022 for example which was probably the most difficult of my 15 year career in the financial services industry. In the coming years there will be many reflections about what happened in 2022, but for me what I am most proud of is how this team stepped up for each other when it was needed, no matter what the situation. Driven by the same common purpose which brought us all together 4 years ago, and since has invited that many more people in since then.

Last year, our leadership team sat down and looked to define the DNA of what makes up an Endeavourite and we came up with the following list of core values:

1) Always be Curious

2) Rising Tides Raise all Boats

3) Turn the Turtle

4) Genuine Authenticity

5) Treat it Like your Own

6) Create the Future

7) Dive until you Touch Bottom

8) Connect the Dots

9) Get it Done

Every one of these items holds a special place, but if I have a favorite, it may be “Turn the Turtle”. The simple meaning behind it is that if you see a turtle on it’s back, any member of this group would stop whatever it is they are doing,  and turn that turtle over. Over the past few years and 2022 in particular, there have been many turtles on their backs and this group has done exactly what I would have expected to do, which is to turn them all over and do whatever was needed. When one advisor’s client faced a difficult situation, the other advisors were there to offer experience  and advice. When one of our staff faced a difficult personal situation, others were there to wrap themselves around them and ensure they were taken care of.

Where most businesses strive to hire people that fit their culture and values, we search for people that can also enhance and build on them.

This is what makes Endeavour Wealth such a special place to be a part of and what separates the impact we have for our clients as well. Because, when you’re with us… you don’t just get one of us. You get all of us.

Four years in, I am so proud of what this group has accomplished together and we have only just begun!
